Privacy Notice

Who is responsible

Chris Pohl is the data controller for personal data processed through this app. Contact support@captainchris.com with any privacy question or request.

What we collect

  • Account data — your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile Google returns.
  • Purchase data — a record that you bought the Offline Pack, its transaction reference and status. We never see or store your card details.
  • Your use of the app — the flights, notes and progress you enter. These stay on your device unless you are signed in.
  • Questions to Captain Chris — the text you send to the in-app assistant, processed to generate a reply.
  • Technical data — basic logs such as IP address and device type, used for security and reliability.

Why we use it

To give you an account and keep your unlock working across devices (contract), to answer your questions and support you (contract and legitimate interests), to keep the service secure and to meet tax and accounting duties (legal obligation).

Who we share it with

  • Paddle.com Market Ltd — our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment and billing details and handles refunds and billing enquiries.
  • Our hosting and database provider — stores account and purchase records on our behalf.
  • Our AI provider — receives the question text you send to the in-app assistant so a reply can be generated.
  • Google — only if you choose Google sign-in.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Where and how long

Data may be processed outside the UK/EEA by the providers above under appropriate safeguards. Account and purchase records are kept while your account exists, and purchase records for as long as tax law requires. Delete your account and we remove the rest.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or ask for it in a portable form. Email support@captainchris.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and storage on your device

The app stores your session and, if you buy the Offline Pack, downloaded content on your device so it works without a connection. This essential storage cannot be switched off — the app would not function without it. Anything optional, such as anonymous usage counts, is only used if you agree. Paddle sets its own cookies during checkout so your payment can be processed securely. You can clear downloads from the Offline Pack screen, and change your choices at any time:
